The future development makes clear that to work on a global level becomes indispensable for companies with a specific size. To get a grip on that task it is necessary to find a strategy beforehand. For this, in the management of MCTs, it is required to have an overview of the all kinds of problems to process matching solutions. In relation to the culture of the team members there are several specific forms of behavior and perception distributed onto multiple levels. The manager or the project leader has to observe the variables and the interactions and it is necessary to be open-minded. The knowing of the cultural diversity can also help the employees themselves to avoid team internal problems and get a better understanding of their team members. The main problem with the topic is that the cultural aspect is only one part of the challenge. In addition there are personality-based factors. So the introduced strategies can just be considered as guidelines. It is essential to adjust the strategy accordingly. When a manager does this conscientious he can lead the team to a high performance level. It is also possible that the performance of MCTs gets higher than the performance of same cultural teams because some team members are able to settle the weaknesses while the strengths of all team members can be combined.

Zusammenfassung der Kapitel (Chapter Summaries)
1. Era of Globalization: This chapter establishes the context of globalization in the 21st century, highlighting the roles of improved infrastructure, trade deregulation, and financial market liberalization. It introduces four theses—novelty, return, continuity, and transformation—describing different perspectives on globalization’s impact. The chapter emphasizes the significant influence of globalization on both companies (leading to the need for multicultural teams) and markets (through the reduction of trade barriers illustrated by the GATT and WTO). The examples of German car manufacturers’ internationalization strategies and the evolution of trade agreements effectively demonstrate the pervasive effects of globalization.
2. Management of Teams: This chapter delves into the complexities of managing multicultural teams. It outlines four phases of team building and focuses extensively on predictable problems encountered in such teams. These include communication style differences (direct vs. indirect), variations in problem-solving and decision-making norms, differing perceptions of time and pace, contrasting work norms and behaviors, issues of respect and hierarchy, language barriers, and the unique challenges of digital teams. The chapter lays the groundwork for understanding the inherent difficulties in managing diverse teams across various cultural landscapes.
3. Range of Influence: This chapter analyzes the various levels influencing the dynamics of multicultural teams. It examines the structural level (organizational structures and processes), the personal level (individual personalities and communication styles), and the cultural level (values, norms, and beliefs). By differentiating these levels of influence, the chapter provides a framework for understanding the interplay of factors that shape team interactions and outcomes. This multifaceted approach emphasizes the complexity of navigating cultural differences within a team setting.
4. Strategies: This chapter explores various strategies for managing cross-cultural teams effectively. It presents four approaches: adaptation (adjusting to the cultural norms of the team), structural intervention (modifying organizational structures), managerial intervention (active leadership to resolve conflicts and foster collaboration), and exit (disbanding the team if other strategies fail). Each strategy is presented as a potential solution to the challenges outlined in previous chapters, showcasing diverse management responses to complex intercultural scenarios.
