Author’s copy: what is it?

You have published your text with us and now want to hold your book in your hands? No problem! As a GRIN author, you can order your own titles from us at any time at a reduced price as so-called author’s copies (or your own copies) as soon as they have been published in the print version (we will inform you about this by e-mail). The amount of the discount depends on the order quantity: the more books you add to the shopping cart, the higher the discount.

What is the best way to use author’s copies?

From job interviews to your own reading to social media: author’s copies are an effective marketing tool if used correctly. Below are some ways to make use of author copies:

1. Your book in a Job Interview

If you’ve written a paper or thesis on a topic related to your potential new job, you can bring your book to the interview to demonstrate your expertise in the field.

2. Your book at trade fairs and conferences

At trade fairs or conferences in your field, you can display or even personally present your book. Additionally, you can engage with other attendees and introduce your book in the process.

3. Your book at your reading

A reading is a highly effective marketing tool that can draw attention to your book while allowing you to engage with your target audience. Depending on the context, you can distribute or even sell your book after the reading.

4. Your book on social media

Your target audience is very likely also on social media. To reach them effectively, visual content such as photos or videos works best. With a printed copy of your publication, you can create appealing images to draw attention to your book.

5. Your book as a gift

Whether Christmas, a birthday, or Easter: there are many occasions to gift your own book. Delight your parents, grandparents, or friends with a freshly printed copy of your term paper or thesis!

How can I order my own books?

In your GRIN account, you will find the item “Order my books” on the left under “My texts”.

Here you will see an overview of all titles that can be ordered . If you have published titles with us that have only been published as e-books, they will not appear here.

As a next step, select the title for which you want to order author copies and either enter the desired quantity or use the slider to change the order quantity. On the right-hand side, you’ll see how much discount you’re getting compared to the retail price. It’s worth it for you from the very first copy!

Depending on the quantity you choose, you can get between 20% and 35% discount:

Number of copies

Discount

1-9

20% of gross price

10-24

25% of gross price

from 25

35% of gross price

As soon as you have added your author copies to the shopping cart, you can complete the order.
