Your Term Paper on GRIN – What You Need to Know

We can’t always publish your term paper on GRIN exactly as you submitted it to your university. Here’s what our editorial team focuses on.

First things first:

  • GRIN publishes your work just as you upload it. Only minor adjustments are made.
  • Make sure your paper doesn’t include any sensitive data before uploading it.
  • We print in color only in exceptional cases.

Title Optimization

We may adjust the title of your work for publication. This helps search engines like Google better locate your text and increases the chances of selling your publication. You can learn more about the reasons for title optimization in our magazine and on our website.

If you’re unhappy with our title choice, feel free to let us know. However, keep in mind that title optimization enhances the visibility of your work.

Title Page

The title page of a term paper or thesis typically includes not only the title and the authors’ names but also the names of advisors or instructors, student ID numbers, and sometimes even email addresses and mailing addresses. We do not publish this information as it constitutes private data protected by privacy laws. The same applies to university logos, which are copyrighted. As a result, we remove them from the title page.

This means you won’t find these details on the title page of your GRIN book. However, the title, the author’s name (unless published anonymously), and the name of the university or college will remain on the cover.

Sensitive Data – Interviews and Internal Information

For papers that include an empirical section, we take extra care, as they often contain private information. When reviewing a paper with interviews, we check whether any mentioned names have been anonymized and may ask for confirmation that the interviewees have given their consent for publication.

The same applies to company-specific data that is not publicly accessible, also known as internal information. If we’re unsure during our initial review of the text, we’ll reach out to you. This means you may receive follow-up questions if your work includes an empirical study.

Declaration of Authenticity

Publishing your paper on GRIN does not require a declaration of authenticity. Your text has already been evaluated by your instructors and checked for potential plagiarism, which assures us that it meets our quality standards. Additionally, such declarations often include sensitive information that we prefer not to make publicly available online.

Formatting

Automatic Tables of Contents and Footnotes

We can process your term paper or thesis even if it has no automatic indexes or footnotes. However, we may need to adjust the formatting or send the text back to you so that you can insert automatic indexes and/or footnotes. If you don’t know how to do this, take a look at our Word tips: Automations in Word: Page numbers don’t have to be a nuisance.

Images

We can only publish images if there are no copyright issues. For this, the image sources must be properly cited. If you’re unsure how to do this, check out our guide: Citing illustrations correctly.

If we cannot verify the image source or if the image is copyrighted, we will have to remove it from the text. This also applies to decorative images, including those on the cover page. In such cases, we’ll add a note like, “Editorial Note: This image has been removed due to copyright restrictions.”

If you still want an eye-catching cover to make your work stand out, you can book a premium cover with us. For more information, read this article: Premium Services – 3 Tips for Optimizing your Book.

We only print in color in special cases, such as when images are only comprehensible in color—common with surveys and statistics. This means the print version of your term paper will be in black and white. We ensure, however, that all images and tables remain clear. If necessary, we’ll include notes to maintain their readability.
