Cover serviceDo you already have your own photo or motif or at least a very concrete idea of how you imagine your book cover? Perfect! We will take care of the creation and send you two to four drafts, from which you can choose one.
Don’t have a cover idea yet, or would you like us to include your author photo on the back of the book? No problem. For an extra charge of €50, our graphic designer will search for motifs and design your individual book cover including author photo on the cover – creatively, professionally and to match your story.

Worldwide distribution with ISBN
Every book we publish gets its own ISBN – both for print and e-book. We distribute through our global network of 300+ online shops.
Layout Check
We’ll make sure your manuscript is ready for print – checking margins, font size, line spacing, and image quality. We’ll embed fonts, add page numbers and a table of contents if needed.
Layout Deluxe
Want your book to really shine? We’ll create a beautifully typeset layout using professional design templates tailored to your project. Classic or custom – your story deserves the perfect frame.
Appealing blurb
We’ll craft a back cover blurb that hooks readers, sparks emotions, and fits your genre and target audience.

No cover idea yet? No worries –
Our designer will create a stunning, personalized cover that fits your story. As part of this service, we’ll also include your author photo on the back of the book.
Proofreading – from €3/page
No typos, no grammar slips – just clean, professional writing that’s a pleasure to read.
Editing (with plot check) – from €5/page
We go beyond basic proofreading – helping with style, tone, logic, and storytelling. We’ll also make sure your plot holds up and keeps readers hooked.
Our book formats
Whether it’s a handy guidebook, a gripping novel or a colourful children’s book – at GRIN you have three formats to choose from. For non-fiction books we recommend DIN A5, for fiction the paperback format is ideal, and for everything with a little more space (e.g. children’s books) there is an extra wide format.

Frequently asked questions about self-publishing with GRIN
Yes, of course! As long as your book has an ISBN – and we automatically get it with publication – you can sell it in bookstores.
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to publish fanfiction, i.e. stories based on an existing, published original (book, film, series). The authors of the original story hold the copyright to their creations: characters, worlds, plots, invented places. Publishing fanfiction would therefore require the permission of the copyright holder.
In most cases, however, you can publish your fanfiction in a private, non-commercial context. There are some sites that have a large fanfiction readership, including Fanfiktion.de (the best portal for German-language stories), Wattpad or Archive of our own (which are more suitable for English-language stories).
Yes. Before your book is published, we check it for minimum formal and content standards. In doing so, we ensure that it does not contain any illegal, discriminatory or problematic content – e.g. racist, violence-glorifying, pornographic or extremist content. Plagiarism or hate speech also lead to rejection. Of course, your creative freedom will be preserved – as long as it remains within the framework of our ethical and legal guidelines.
No. You decide how much you want to do yourself – and what you need support with. Whether layout, cover or editing: We are there when you need us.
Silver is your perfect start: covers, a basic style sheet, personal support and worldwide distribution of your book are included.
Gold is our all-round carefree package – you get everything from the Silver package and we also take care of a high-quality layout and an appealing blurb.
No problem! With Cover Plus, our graphic designer takes care of the design for you - individually, professionally and tailored to your book.
Our proofreading team not only checks spelling and grammar, but also style, expression and plot. We make sure that your text is not only correct, but also consistent and round.
No, this is not a must, the main thing is that the format corresponds to one of the three book formats that we can serve. We provide you with free Word templates for any book format. No design knowledge required – just open, write, done.
Depending on the package and additional services, your book can be published in a few days to weeks. We'll keep you up to date – step by step.
Our Silver package is available from €99, the Gold package for €499 (regular). Extras such as editing (from 5 €) or Cover Plus (50 €) can be booked flexibly.
